A stylish first floor extension with internal remodelling and new bathrooms

THE REQUIREMENT

The Davies family wanted to remodel and extend their property to create extra space for their growing family and visiting guests. The existing upstairs provided enough room for two single and two double bedrooms, but they wanted a more spacious design. A reconfiguration of the additional area was required to increase the bedrooms, add an extra en suite and create a large family bathroom.

OUR SOLUTION

Extending upwards above the garage and the kitchen was the logical way to create a home with a larger first floor. The new space allowed for four double bedrooms including two master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and a large family bathroom. Our team removed the kitchen roof and a section of the garage roof, before building up. Steel beams and a column were fitted to support the new storey. The entire side of the upstairs was removed and new steels were installed to support the existing roof structure. Stud walls were erected to separate the new rooms. A large, modern family bathroom was created, complete with underfloor heating. Externally, we completed the extension with a seamless rendering to match the existing house.

THE RESULT

Using the original footprint of the house, we have increased the size of the property and provided a home that responds to the lifestyle and needs of the family. The additional space gained has created four large double bedrooms, two with en suites, which provide private spaces for all. The larger family bathroom is high tech and includes LED lights and a TV. The new layout of the upstairs has created a more spacious way of living for our clients.
